"Filter Bubbles"

In the video of “Filter Bubble: What internet is hiding from you.” by Eli Pariser. He talks about how the information is filtered when we searching something through the internet. Sometimes when we try to search something online, it might already be screen out for us and it’s very hard to recognize that the information we received is already been filtered. I think that in order for the society to advance and progress, people should accept different perspectives of information. I don’t know what makes the network to narrow down and left out some information, but I think that people should take different views and different sources to going forward. We need new people, new society, and new ideas to connect us all together, and we should accept different perspectives of thinking and different views, not isolated and in order to win.

Internet and social networking are very powerful, by using those tools; it could make something that seems impossible to possible. Era of Network

Era of Network

In now day’s people cannot live without the internet, cell phones, it is closely related to our daily life. Some old saying that the sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me however this might not apply to the present technological society any more. As we can see on this videos that growing up online may cause different level of negative effects. Some teenagers release their other sides of personality through internet, some students use the online sources to “cheat” their school assignments, and also the major issue online is the cyber bullying which most parents worry about.
Cyber bullying has more harmful effects than those traditional bullying because people often do not find out until it is too late. Parents have no way to protect their children from cyber bullying because many of them are unaware of their children’s online activities. Just like in Ryan Halligan’s case, his parents do not know the struggle that he was facing until after his death. Cyber bullying indirectly caused someone’s death, they can’t be prosecuted as a real life case because there is effective legislation that prosecutes online harassment.  But Carla Franklin set up a good example to us; she takes on Google to find online harasser to release information regarding her. If more people follow Carla’s action, there will be less cyber bullies.
We are now living in an era of net work, there is nothing wrong with development of high technology, but it’s a lesson for our self how to teach the next generation and help prevent any future tragedies how should we teach and spread the positive and right energy online and our life.
